Longboat Key

Longboat Key’s charm has enchanted us.  The Marina is in a gated community with a beautiful golf course out our back door.  

 This area is conducive for bike rides, sunsets and nature watching.

There are three sets of swans who regularly nest in the area.  Sully, Susie and their four cygnets’ home is only a few yards from the Marina.  These swans are the descendants of original swan pair George and Gracie purchased by a local couple as an anniversary gift.  The Gracie Swan Foundation monitors the health and population of the swans.

The restaurants downtown and on the island are amazingly delicious as we sampled several during Restaurant Week.  Simon has enjoyed the area as well with the Marina and area Restaurants being very pet friendly.   

John Ringling (Ringling Brother’s fame) and his wife Mable’s palatial estate, Ca’D’Zan, translated House of John, houses the Ringling Brother’s Circus and Art Museums.  Learning 
the history of the circus and how John Ringling made his fortune and lost it all is an interesting story.
